에밀리를 보내는 날

  학생회 기획부에서 에밀리 환송회를 surprise로 진행하여 에밀리를 감동의 도가니로 초대했습니다. 에밀 리가 영어선생님들에게 쓴 편지입니다. 함께 읽으면 행복해질 것 같아서 공유합니다. ~^^

  My departure from Korea is coming up fast. I wanted to thank all of you for the experience you have given me here in Gwangju.

  When I cam to study abroad, I never dreamed that I would be given the opportunity to work with such an amazing group of educators and such an amazing group of kids. Koreas future is in good hands with these students I think.

  As for yall as educators, you have taught me so much. I came into this job knowing so little and I will leave having learned so much. You have been so patient with me as I trip and stumble through learning a new culture and new educatiion system and I appreaciate it so much.

  This experience was so unique and so different from my experiences in American Scholls. I admire the relationship you all have with your students, and I am so honored to have been invited to be a part of that.

  Thank you for teaching me, for guiding me, for being patient with me, and for allowing me this opportunity. I feel like my experiences here in Korea will help me to be a better educator, and a better person in the long run.

  Not to mention, that my experiences are so different from what most foreign students get. Being a part of what you have created here with these sudents, these teachers, this environment, will forever be a memory I will cherish when I go home. I will miss miss Sophia School and all it all has to offer.

  Thank you so much for all you have done for me.

  한국을 떠날 날이 빠르게 다가오고 있습니다. 나는 여러분들이 광주에서 나에게 준 경험에 대해 여러분 모두에게 감사를 전하고 싶습니다.

  내가 외국에 공부하러 왔을 때는 이런 놀라운 교육자 그룹과 이런 놀라운 아이들 그룹과 함께 일할 수 있는 기회를 가질거라고는 꿈도 꾸지 못했었습니다. 한국의 미래는 이들 학생들의 손에 달려있다는 생각이 듭니다.

  교육자로서 여러분 모두에 대해 말할 것 같으면 여러분을은 나에게 너무나 많은 가르침을 주었습니다. 나는 이 일에 대해 거의 알지 못한 채 마주치게 되었는데 떠날 즈음엔 매우 많은 것을 배웠습니다. 여러분은 내가 새로운 문화와 새로운 교육 시스템을 배워나가는 중에 좌충우돌하는 것을 보면서도 너무도 많이 지켜봐 주었습니다. 나는 그것에 대해 매우 고맙게 생각합니다.

  이 경험은 너무도 특별하고 미국 학교에서의 나의 경험과는 너무도 다릅니다. 나는 여러분 모두가 여러분의 학생들과 맺고 있는 관계에 경의를 표하며 그 일부가 될 수 있게 초대되었다는 사실을 매우 영광스럽게 생각합니다.

  나를 가르쳐 주고, 지도해 주고, 나를 인내하고 지켜봐주셔서 그리고 나에게 이 기회를 허락해주셔서 고맙습니다. 나의 한국에서의 이 경험은 내가 더 나은 교육자가 되고 종국에는 더 나은 사람이 되게 하는 것에 도움이 될 것이라 느껴집니다. 뿐만 아니라, 나의 경험은 대부분 외국인 학생들이 갖는 것과는 매우 다릅니다. 여러분이 이곳에 이러한 학생들과, 이러한 선생님들과 이 환경과 더불어 여러분이 창출한 것의 일부가 된 경험은 내가 고국에 갔을 때 마음 깊이 간직할 기억이 될 것입니다. 나는 지혜학교와 지혜학교가 제공할 수 있는 모든 것을 그리워하고 또 그리워할 것입니다.

  여러분이 나를 위해 해 준 모든 것에 대해 너무도 고맙습니다.
